Review: Saucony Viratta

StillTemplate

If you’ve followed me for awhile, you know how much I love the Saucony Kinvara 3. This shoe is Saucony’s response to a more minimal, zero-drop, cushioned version of the Kinvara. The question is whether it lives up to the hype. Well, all-in-all, the shoe is pretty dynamite, but not without it’s faults – and the faults are make or break for me. While it is an extremely light, zero-drop shoe with an amazingly comfortable […]

Review: Salomon Sense Mantra & S-Lab Sense Ultra

website

SALOMON SENSE MANTRA The Salomon Sense Mantra is an AWESOME shoe and has proved itself time and time again. When I first received the shoe, I didn’t think it would be up my alley, but honestly, it blew my mind each time I would take it out for a day on the trails. The shoe kept me nimble, protected, and fast on the trails. It features superb traction and the outsole has held up amazingly […]

Review: Pearl Izumi E-Motion Trail N1

StillTemplate

I love this shoe. It has pretty much everything I need in a trail shoe: comfort, traction, a solid and simple upper, flexibility, durability and a stable but forgiving stance. I think one of it’s most stand-out benefits is the shoe’s long-lasting comfort. I’ve put some serious miles on these bad boys and they still impress me. From the 10k+ foot mountains outside Los Angeles, to the rolling hills of the Santa Monica range, the […]

Review: Salomon Sense Hydro S-LAB Set

Screen Shot 2013-06-04 at 1.37.12 AM

I have to give Salomon major credit for taking the time and R&D to come up with a system like the Hydro Set. While I don’t always use the bladder system for my hydration, these gloves make that option far more feasible. Like I mention in the video, I’d definitely recommend these for shorter distances (10k, Half Marathon) where you can get away with 8-16oz in hand without having to depend solely on aid stations. […]

Race Report: 2013 Leona Divide 50 Miler

I did it. First 50 miler in the books!

Hello, my name is Ethan Newberry and I am an Ultra Runner. Hot DAMN, I’ve been waiting to say those words for awhile now! After running (we’ll just call it “moving”) this race, I feel comfortable saying them and damn it feels good to get it out there. The Leona Divide 50 Miler was my very first 50 miler race, my first run longer than 32 miles, and it gave me a taste of what […]

Review: Suunto Ambit vs. Garmin Fenix – GPS Watch Comparison

Screen Shot 2013-06-04 at 1.05.19 AM

After running for the past few years with a Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS watch, the damn thing broke. This immediately threw me back into the market for a new watch to replace the old one. I started researching like a madman and realized based on the activities that I was doing – road running, trail running, ultra running, hiking, etc – I knew that I needed more watch than what the Forerunner series could provide. […]

Review: Brooks Running Gear

Brooks Reviews!

Thank you Brooks for droppin some hot gear off at the Ginger’s abode! I got the chance to try out the Brooks Infiniti III shorts, the Brooks Nightlife Essential Run Jacket and the Brooks Utopia Thermal 1/2 Zip. All 3 pieces have made their way through my typical gear rotation (the shorts more than anything, LOVE them) so I got some good solid time in each for these reviews. I will opt to just post […]

Review & Giveaway: Salomon XA Skin Pro 10+3 Hydration Pack

salomon xa skin pro

This pack is awesome. While it fits more like a vest (which I’m glad to see is the new general trend in hydration packs overall), the XA Skin Pro 10+3 pack has quite a few bells and whistles that take this pack to the next level. I’ve been playing around a lot with various hydration systems and so far, this one is my go-to for the long runs. I’ve managed to stick pants, a jacket, […]

OFFICIAL: I will be at the 2013 Boston Marathon w/ Newton Running!

2013 Boston Marathon

Guess what? I’m GOING TO THE 2013 BOSTON MARATHON! I honestly cannot believe it and am excited beyond belief. Here’s what’s up: Newton Running contacted me recently and proposed the idea of partnering up, travelling to the Boston Marathon, and creating cool video content for everyone to watch while we’re there. Wait, SAY WHA? They have been a fan of my videos for awhile (and I’m obviously a fan of their kicks) so they thought […]

Review: Pearl Izumi Ultra 3/4 Tight

Still

It takes a bold man to wear tights, and an even bolder man to wear 3/4 length tights. Lucky for you, I am that man. I’ve rocked these suckers for a few months now through the brutal SoCal winter (sarcasm) and love ‘em. They definitely proved durable and comfortable through various weather conditions/climates so I give them kudos. I definitely recommend these for those in-between days where it’s too cold for shorts and too warm […]
