Race Recap: Run For Your Lives Zombie 5k – Temecula, CA.

Screen Shot 2012-10-27 at 4.39.56 PM

On October 21st, 2012 I ran in a race like no other. Yes, there’s Tough Mudder and Warrior Dash, etc etc. But how about you take one of those races, with it’s mud and big obstacles, then add a whole new element: ZOMBIES. What do you have? The Run For Your Lives 5k ZOMBIE RUN! So rather than racing against the clock and seeing if you’re strong enough to jump over hurdles and climb rope [...]

Review: Hydrapak SoftFlask

Screen Shot 2012-10-27 at 4.07.25 PM

I got the chance to review the convenient and innovative HydraPak Softflask. It’s a simple, yet innovative device that allows a runner to carry multiple servings of gels in a single container without the heft or volume of a hard flask. It conforms to your hand or waist belt and adapts as it gets emptied. I love it. Click to watch the review above and don’t forget to subscribe to my youtube channel! (CLICK HERE [...]

Race Report: The 2012 Seattle To Portland Bicycle Classic

stp-2012_med

I’m pretty sure that I am crazy. I decided to take on a one-day double century bike ride smack dab in the middle of my marathon training schedule. Why? Because I thought it would be a fun challenge. I guess that’s if you consider torturing your body and social life a “fun” challenge. THE HISTORY So the Seattle To Portland bike ride (STP as we call it) was my very first endurance challenge back when [...]

Review: Pearl Izumi Fly Ultra Shorts & ELITE Tri Shorts

Screen Shot 2012-07-07 at 11.43.32 PM

PEARL IZUMI FLY ULTRA SHORTS I finally get the chance to reviews two pairs of awesome Pearl Izumi shorts. First, the Fly Ultra shorts. These are my go-to shorts for races and longer training runs. They’re extremely comfortable with the P.R.O. fabric, light weight, minimal shorts with tons of storage and a smooth slit down the side that doesn’t feel like a skirt when you’re running extra fast. Love these bad boys!! LIKED: Light No Chafing [...]

Race Report: The 2012 Big Sur Marathon

big_sur_half_marathon

I may have whispered the word, “Wow”, to myself hundreds of times in a 4 hour time-span. It was pretty much the only way to sum up my 2012 Big Sur Marathon experience. I mean, when you have 26.2 miles of rugged cliffsides, breathtaking ocean-views, quad-slamming hills, and brutally canted California coastal highway between the start and finish line, you’re pretty much guaranteed of loving every second of the run. This marathon did not disappoint. [...]

Race Report: The 2012 LA Marathon

LA Marathon Logo

Let’s just say that this race taught me a thing or two in humility, perseverance, and outright pain & suffering. This was by far my worst marathon to date; but was easily the most important test of my will to finish and push through what I would only consider the impossible. In fact, it’s only now – weeks later – that I’m able to get over my pride, write about it and share my experience. [...]

Review: The Newton MV2

Screen Shot 2012-01-14 at 7.25.30 PM

I really enjoy running in the Newton MV2 (“MV Squared”). This sucker is light and fast, exactly what it was designed to do. While I love it for anything from 5ks to 10ks (and it’s capable of MUCH more), I haven’t been able to wear it on anything longer than a half marathon without soreness. But that could be due to my weak, weak, ginger legs. One of the major changes from other Newton shoes is [...]

Review: The Salomon Speedcross 3

blog

I’ve spent the last few months running trails on and off in this shoe. Salomon does an amazing job with the Speedcross 3. It’s rugged, relatively light, fast, and grippy. Not having run in earlier iterations of the Speedcross, I can’t speak to the changes from the previous versions, but I can stand by the solidity of this model. The lugs allow for constant grip on softer surfaces, even performing beyond expectation on snow and [...]

Review: Point Mugu XTERRA 11k Trail Run

Screen Shot 2011-12-02 at 2.05.30 AM

While it’s been a few weeks since I actually ran the Point Mugu XTERRA 11k trail run, I still remember it in vivid detail. It’s easy to say that this run might be one of the most beautiful and breathtaking races I’ve participated in. The race is located far outside Los Angeles, up the Pacific Coast Highway, north of Malibu at Point Mugu (obviously). I had never been to this park before so I was [...]
