Review: Suunto Ambit 2

Screen Shot 2014-01-15 at 12.28.12 PM

So i’ve been rocking the Ambit2 for a few months now in hopes of getting a good idea of how this watch compares to not only the original Ambit but also the Garmin Fenix. After a number of issues with the Garmin Fenix dropping signal, restarting and failing despite plenty of battery life, I knew it was time to switch to another watch. Now remember, this watch is primarily for adventure runners, ultra runners, explorers, […]

Review: Hydrapak “Selva” Hydration Backpack

Hydrapak Selva

PRICE: $74.99 Long gone are the days of having to lug water bottles around with you on trails or stashing fuel in bushes on long training runs. There’s been an onslaught of decent hydration packs on the market for the last few years, and even more recently some packs built with the ultra runner/trail runner in mind. The Hydrapak Selva is a decent addition to the fray – despite being primarily an off-road cyclist product […]

Floating On Cloud 9

Out & Back 10 Miler

I don’t know how I did it, but somehow I managed an average pace of 9:29 min/mile today on my 10 mile run, taking off an average of 35 seconds/mile from last weeks 10 mile run! I know those numbers don’t seem like a lot, but to me they are HUGE!  Am I elated about this? HELL YES I am! Am I shocked? Yup. Am I hoping this is the beginning of something good? Absolutely! […]

Nike-SportWatch-GPS-Gear-Patrol

Not released until April 1st, this watch is on my gimmie GIMMIE list. Why? Well, it has 3 things I desire in a distance tracking device: 1) The ability to track via GPS  2) An online community that doesn’t SUCK (ie Garmin)  3) Killer looks/UI design The Nike+ Sportswatch GPS looks to solve some major problems with todays GPS watch lineup. Unfortunately, it looks to have a number of shortcomings compared to it’s competition which […]

Now Isn’t That Nifty! Transferring Garmin Activities to Nike+

garminnike

I’ve been running in my Garmin Forerunner 110 for quite a few months now. I love the watch for many reasons, but have my complaints as well. One of my biggest complaints is the lack of online community that Garmin Connect achieves. Basically, the Forerunner 110 collects GPS data as you run, tells you your total distance ran, your pace, calories (inaccurately), elevation, and time elapsed. The next model up features a HR monitor. Now […]
