I recently got the chance to review two totally different style of shorts – one for recovery, one for triathlons. Seeing as it’s now towards the end of summer, I thought I’d push them together into one blog post in order to consolidate the need for the search bar for those of you looking for late summer purchases. Check out the videos below and let me know if you have used either pair of gear!

COBB RAPIDO TRIATHLON SHORTS

Cobb Cycling – a very well known cycling seat manufacturer – has started their very first line of Triathlon apparel. They sent me a pair of their men’s Rapido tri shorts and I really like them. They’re light, moisture wicking, thin shorts with tons of storage and are great in hot conditions.

I only had a few gripes with the shorts including the thin waist band, lack of an enclosed back pocket, and sizing, but overall, I think these are a great first addition to Cobb’s tri apparel.

Do you guys have a favorite pair of triathlon shorts that you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments below and I’ll see if I can get my hands on a pair for review! Despite not having completed a full triathlon, I’m always finding time to train on my bike and get in the pool so I’m amped to try out the gear.

Also, a special shout-out to my boy JT Peebles for the Cobb Cycling hook-up. Glad I got my hands on these bad boys!

OPEDIX CORETEC RECOVERY SHORTS

I got the chance to try out some cool shorts from Opedix and determine if what they claim does in fact work. They are marketed as a recovery/kinetic health set of shorts that not only promote muscular blood flow, but to also aid in recovery and reduce fatigue.

Well, all of these claims I consider to be dependent on the person wearing them. Some people will notice a difference while others may not. I feel that they absolutely aided in recovery and fatigue in my upper quads/lower core. I would even go on further to say that the tights may be the product to invest in, seeing as they are the full lower body recovery product. The shorts may be too limiting for runners/cyclists.

My major problems with the shorts involve how they are used. When I ran in them, they felt thick, hot and lacked necessary storage I’ve come to require on my runs. However, when I use them after/between work-outs, that’s when I notice the most benefits. But, man, they be PRICEY ($165)!

Have you used the Opedix CORE-Tec shorts or other pairs of recovery shorts? Do you notice a difference or do you recommend them? Let me know in the comments below!
