This is my first opportunity to review any shoe from The North Face. The Hyper Track Guide is a solid performer from the company and is there first attempt at a “reduced” trail running shoe. I will say that the shoe has it’s strong points – soft EVA, seamless upper, and flexibility – but suffers from some crucial flaws – minimal underfoot protection, sizing, long-term comfort. It’s my understanding that The North Face is working with some of their top sponsored ultra runners to create some new kicks (uhh, Timothy Olson and Hal Koerner?!), so I’m excited to see where the company goes with it’s kicks.
This is one of those shoes that I would recommend getting on your feet and trying for a number of miles to really make a determination for yourself. While it isn’t my go-to trail shoe, it’s top 3 in my closet at the moment.
